Scenario
Engaged in a mysterious relationship with her dead best friend from the Army, a female Afghanistan veteran comes head to head with her Vietnam vet grandfather at the family's ancestral lake house.. Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris previously acted together in Gone Baby Gone (2007).. One of the best movies I have seen in a while. It’s a story of how to deal with the loss of loved ones – past or future – which is of course a theme in many movies, if you think about it. The way this is done in MDFZ is surprising and what actually happened stays in the middle for almost the entire duration. This is much more than a movie about American veterans, which could be an initial distractor for non-USA viewers. It made me reflect upon a lot of things that are going on in my personal life and it really gave me some piece of mind.I sincerely hope the move will get a proper European distribution as well. The reception it got here at a Dutch film festival seems promising.
