Frida: Something terrible will happen soon
Scenario
When tech billionaire Slater King meets cocktail waitress Frieda at his fundraising event, he invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. When strange things start happening, Frida questions her reality. We caught up with director Zoe Kravitz and her ensemble on the Blink Twice red carpet. Zoë Kravica began writing Blink Twice under the original working title Pussy Island in 2017. Kravitz had intended to keep the film’s title, but negative attitudes from the MPAA, women and theaters forced her to change it. Boa constrictors are non-venomous, so they couldn’t make snake venom liquid out of it.

On. Late Night with Seth Meyers: Channing Tatum/Sabrina Ionescu (2024). Paid the Cost to Be a Boss (Boss) Written by Charles Bobbitt, James Brown & Fred Wesley Performed by James Brown. was a truly pleasant surprise and one of the most entertaining films of the year. Zoë Kravitz made her directorial debut with a film she wrote and directed, and managed to assemble a truly stellar cast. Channing Tatum, Christian Slater, the legendary Kyle McLachlan and many more.
Very professional work from all sides
Above all, Naomi Ackie is able to carry the film in an amazing way with a captivating, impressive and very charismatic performance. With so many plot twists in the film, it’s hard to praise the other performances without going into spoilers, but I can only say that the impressive cast does a really good job here. It is truly amazing to think about. that this is the first film written and directed by Kravitz, as it seems to be the work of a very experienced and talented writer and director. The film is very well made and structured and it seems like she learned a lot from the people she worked with during her years as an actress, and her debut film doesn’t come close to looking like a first time filmmaker. If she continues in this direction, I see great achievements in her future.
Tarantino’s extremely dark humor
Although the film is a psychological thriller, Kravitz managed to combine the genre with a lot of humor. The film has several moments that are sure to shock many viewers, especially with how they come out of nowhere, and the fact that they are accompanied by humorous scenes from both sides is quite unusual, reminiscent of early Guy Ritchie films or even Quentin. The length of the film is very compact and I feel that the pacing was just right. Although it took a little too long to "get down to business," the suspense and mystery are built very effectively throughout the film, keeping the viewer in their seat, wanting to see and learn more. In addition, the end of the story itself seems a little strange and even a little rushed, contains two or three holes and points that raise questions (“how and why did this happen if such and such?”). The soundtrack, as minimalist as it is, adds a lot of atmosphere.
In this case, less is more
In addition, the sound editing of the film was very impressive and added to the atmosphere of tension that the film tries to create from the very first moment. The cinematography is also very impressive and overall this film seems to be very high quality in its technical aspects. In my opinion, this is one of the most surprising and entertaining films of the last year. I really enjoyed watching it, but it’s important to prepare yourself for a pretty wild movie that’s completely no holds barred. On one hand, the film is full of humor, but on the other hand, expect some pretty harsh stuff to watch. Zoë Kravitz pleasantly surprises with her first film, and I hope that after a successful career as an actress, she will continue to work in this direction as a director/writer and bring us more original and amazing films like this one.
